# Depression is a silent killer in our society and many millions are suffering in silence. We need to bring depression out of the closet. When we as a society will not be ashamed of the disease and its impact on our life, then we are more likely to seek treatment and move on.
# Largely suffers of depression, feel ashamed to talk of it. In our society, mental health problems are considered a stigma and it is taboo to talk about them. However just like humans get physical health issues, they also get mental health issues. We should not be ashamed about mental health issues. Mental illnesses are widely prevalent, as one research showed that 1 in 5 Americans is likely to be diagnosed with mental illness.
# When you suffer from depression you have low mood and/or loss of interest and pleasure in usual daily activities, as well as many other symptoms. The additional symptoms form the basis of defining subtypes of Major Depressive Disorder in DSM 5.
# As an example, the very reason we have progressed with management and control of AIDS is because the topic was brought out into open and many celebrities started talking about it. They were either themselves suffering from it or someone in their close circle had the same problem.
# Compared to AIDS depression is more epidemic. According to WHO, an estimated 350 people of all ages suffer from depression. A large percentage of those suffering from clinical depression commit suicide.
# Lately for the benefit of society, to increase acceptance of depression and remove the taboo around it, more and more celebrities are coming out and talking about their battle with depression. Sarah Silverman, a popular comedian, who plays a lead role in the movie "I Smile Back" has openly talked of her battle with depression. In an interview with Slate in 2005, she notes
# "I went through [severe depression] from 13 to 16. Then, when I was 22, it hit again really hard. So when I was 23 or 24, my mom and her sister, who's a psychologist, talked to me about it…. I go to this psychiatrist every six months, like you're supposed to, to make sure you're on the right track. I've mentioned to him, like 'I feel great, I feel so stable. After all these years, I wonder what it would be like to be free of it, this medicine.' And he's like, 'Why? If someone has diabetes, they don't say, OK, let's see what it's like to not take insulin.'"
# Similarly, popular Indian Actress, Deepika Padukone, recently opened up about her battle with depression. In an interview with a leading Indian News Channel, NDTV she mentions the reasons she went open with her battle with depression.
# "Why I chose to speak up I think is because if in doing so If I can impact even one life, because I lost a friend a couple of months ago and so for me if I can impact one life in this entire process of speaking up and letting people know that you know what, it's something I have been through and something that I could deal with because I had a fantastic support system. A lot of times it's not just the person who is suffering, there are a lot of people who are ready and willing to take that help but it's the immediate family and friends around who sort of suppress them and say, 'No, no, you can't go to the doctor because nobody does this, what are other people gonna say,' and I think which it's important that mother is there for me here today, because she is the one who sort of encouraged me. I realised that something was wrong, I realised i was being different, i couldn't pinpoint what the issue was."
# Other celebrities who have openly become advocates for depression include Kristen Bell, Lady Gaga, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ryan Phillippe. Thanks to the contribution of these celebrities we see that awareness of the symptoms of the problem and its treatment is increasing. Slowly the stigma around depression is also reducing.

===Preparing the Child for Travel===
# Tell the child where they are going and why. Children with ADHD can be overwhelmed by sudden changes or shifts in their routine. To prepare the child for the trip, you should let them know where they are going and why they are traveling. You may sit down with them and have a discussion about where they are going to stay and who they are going to visit. This way, they are aware of what is going to happen.<ref>http://matadornetwork.com/life/6-survival-tips-traveling-adhd-kiddo/</ref>

#*For example, you may tell the child, "We are going to visit Aunt Bev in Florida for one week. We are going to stay with Aunt Bev in her house in Tampa. While we're in Tampa, we're going to drive to Disney World for a few days and have fun as a family."

# Ask them for input on the trip. You should include the child in the trip planning so they can feel useful and part of the experience. You may ask them what they think about the plan for the trip and if they would like to see anything specific on the trip. Discuss their ideas and try to put one or two of them in the schedule so they feel included.<ref>http://matadornetwork.com/life/6-survival-tips-traveling-adhd-kiddo/</ref>

# Pack the child's medication. If the child with ADHD takes medication for their condition, you should make sure their medication is packed for the trip. You may also get prescriptions for their medication from their doctor so you have it on hand when you are traveling. This will make it easier for you to get the medication when needed during the trip.

===Keeping the Child Occupied During Travel===
# Bring interactive toys and games. Children with ADHD can find spending too much down time in a car or a plane frustrating and limiting. You can keep the child occupied by bringing interactive toys and games with you and giving them to the child to play with. This can ensure the child is not idle or feels bored during travel.<ref>http://matadornetwork.com/life/6-survival-tips-traveling-adhd-kiddo/</ref>

# Let others know about the child's needs. Do not be ashamed or shy about the child's needs, especially if you know that with a few small adjustments, the child will be well behaved. #*For example, if adding 1010 + 1111 + 1011 + 1110, for the eights place you should circle 3 pairs of 1s, since you carried 1 over twice from the fours column. So you would place a 0 in the eights place of your answer and carry three 1s into the sixteens column. In the sixteens column you have one pair of 1s with one 1 left over, so you would place a 1 in the sixteens place of your answer, and a 1 in the thirty-twos column of your answer. So 1010 + 1111 + 1011 + 1110 = 110010.
